Try three classes on us. See if this is your kind of gym.

The Rep Room is a coaching-first community gym in Hyde Park. Real coaches watching every class, small group sizes, and members from every walk of life — mid-20s to mid-70s, first-time exercisers to lifelong athletes. Fill out the short form below and we’ll set you up with three free sessions in one of our starting programs.

No credit card. No commitment. We’ll be in touch within one business day.

The Rep Room System

One coaching method. Six programs across the Rep Room System. Your 3-session pass starts you in Rep Build or Rep Seniors — our two onboarding programs — with the rest of the system waiting when you’re ready for it.

Rep Build

For the person whose goal is daily life, not the leaderboard. Walking down stairs without pain. Sleeping without shoulder ache. Coached at a pace that fits the work. One of two entry points for your 3-session pass.

Rep Fit

The flagship program. Adults building broad-life strength — moving well under load, ready for whatever the day brings.

Rep Performance

For the person who wants the leaderboard. Higher intensity, sharper goals, training alongside people who measure their own progress and push each other.

Rep Seniors

Training alongside peers in the same life stage. Same coaching philosophy, with people who get it. One of two entry points for your 3-session pass.

Rep Teens

Real training for adolescents. Learning to lift, move, and progress under coaching, with peers their age.

Rep Youth

Real coached strength and movement training for young athletes. Same standards, scaled to the body.

Your 3-session pass starts you in Rep Build (the most common starting point for adults new to coached training) or Rep Seniors (for adults who want to train alongside peers in the same life stage). Don’t worry about choosing — when we reach out, we’ll talk through where you are right now and pick the one that fits. Many members move between Build, Seniors, and Fit as their goals change.

Pete Mogan and Jessie Bickell, co-owners

Two people who built a gym worth showing up for.

The Rep Room is co-owned and coached by Pete Mogan and Jessie Bickell. Pete’s background is in orthopaedics and athlete development; Jessie’s is in nutrition coaching and the lived experience of building a healthy relationship with her own body after years of getting it wrong. They built this place around the kind of coaching they wished existed when they were starting out themselves.

Every class here is led by a coach who is actively watching form, cueing, and adjusting for the person in front of them. Small group sizes (typically 8 to 14) mean recognizable faces, peers in similar life stages, and a coach who actually knows the people they’re training.

People keep coming back because they’re noticed when they don’t — the social texture is what produces the consistency that produces the results.

What it actually looks like, in their own words.

Three of our members — different ages, different starting points, different reasons for walking in. Stories shared with their permission.

Susie, Rep Room member for 2+ years

“They’re like my family away from home.”

Susie is a grade 5/6 teacher in her 50s. She hurt her knee getting off a ski lift and couldn’t walk for about a month. She tried the YMCA first; they didn’t know how to help. She found The Rep Room because Pete was the first person to call her back who actually knew what he was talking about.

Pete told her she’d be feeling good in six months. Six months in, she did her first complete set of lunges with the whole class cheering for her, and only afterward realized it was exactly six months to the day from when she’d started.

What she didn’t expect was the part she now leads with when she tells the story: she had lived in London for 18 years without making the kind of deep connections most people have closer to home. The gym became that for her. She tells people, in her own words, that the coaches and members are her family away from home.

Christel and Andrew, Rep Room members for 2+ years

“It’s been better than marriage counselling.”

Christel and Andrew joined the Rep Room together a couple of years ago. Andrew works construction — long days, the drinking-and-smoking-after-work culture that comes with the trades, food choices that hadn’t been serving him. He didn’t realize how out of shape he was until he started training. Through Jessie’s nutrition program, he gained 33 pounds of healthy weight (from 147 to 180), feels younger than he has in years, and is visibly different from the peers he came up with.

Christel had been stuck in a rut — unhappy with how she looked and felt, not sure how to change it. Two years in, she carries herself differently.

What they tell people most often is what they got that they weren’t expecting. They’d been to marriage counselling. In their own words, the gym has done more for their relationship than the counselling did — because they have a shared thing to talk about, a shared community, a few hours a week where they’re both growing in the same direction. They didn’t come for that. They stayed for it.

Emily, Rep Room member, early 70s

“I’ve been looking for a place like this for a long time.”

Emily is in her early 70s and is a more accomplished athlete than most people of any age — she’s completed multiple world major marathons and cycled across Canada. She wasn’t looking for a place to ease into exercise. She was looking for a place that would take her seriously, watch her form, listen to her goals, and adapt when she needed it to.

She had been worried, walking in for the first time, about being the oldest one in the room. That worry dissolved quickly. She has knee and hand issues that flare; the coaches adapt without making it a thing, and she keeps progressing.

Her stated life goal is to do something until she can’t do it anymore. The Rep Room is where she does that.

Why you can trust what happens here.

Coaching grounded in how the body actually works.

Co-owner Pete Mogan spent his prior career in operating rooms alongside orthopaedic surgeons, learning musculoskeletal function, injury, and repair from the inside out. That depth of exposure to how bodies actually work — and what goes wrong with them — is the foundation of how we coach here. If you arrive with injury history or post-rehab status, you’re in the right hands.

Nutrition coaching from someone who’s lived both sides.

Co-owner Jessie Bickell struggled with body image and disordered eating in her own life before building the nutrition coaching program that has been the single most consistently praised offering at The Rep Room. She doesn’t coach diets. She coaches a relationship with food that you can live with for the rest of your life.

Programming that follows what the evidence actually says.

Our class programming aligns with current ACSM and NSCA resistance training guidance — the same standards used by the American College of Sports Medicine and the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Adapted from Rep Build through Rep Performance so the work matches the person.

How it works — from form to first class.

Three steps. No surprises. No pressure.

1. Fill out the form.

Tell us your name, how to reach you, and a sentence or two about what’s bringing you in. That’s it.

2. We’ll reach out within one business day.

A quick conversation — by text, phone, or whatever works for you — to figure out whether Rep Build or Rep Seniors is the better fit for the three sessions, and to answer any questions you have before you walk in.

3. Use your 3-session pass.

Three coached classes, on the schedule that works for you. Bring whatever you’d normally wear to move in. Water bottle helps. After your three sessions we’ll have a short conversation about what comes next — with no pressure to decide on the spot.

Who this is for — and who it isn’t.

You’re probably in the right place if:

  • You haven’t worked out in years — or ever — and you want a place that doesn’t make that a problem.
  • You’ve been through physio for an injury and you’re ready for what comes after, but you’re not sure where that is.
  • You’ve tried gyms before and felt lost, ignored, or out of place.
  • You want real coaching, not workouts on a screen, and you want to know the people you’re training with.
  • You’re older than most gym marketing seems to be aimed at, and you want a place where that’s the norm rather than the exception.

You’re probably in the wrong place if:

  • You’re in the acute phase of an injury and your treating clinician hasn’t cleared you for exercise yet — we’re a coached fitness facility, not a clinic.
  • You’re looking for unsupervised gym time — every class here is coached, with no open-gym option.
  • You’re looking for a one-month transformation. The members you’ve heard from on this page kept showing up for years. That’s the model.

If you’re not sure which list you’re on, fill out the form. We’ll have a short conversation, figure it out together, and tell you honestly if we’re not the right fit for what you’re looking for.

Common questions.

Q. What does it cost after the three free sessions?

Memberships start at $97 every two weeks. Most members start with a structured onboarding package after their three sessions so they’re fully comfortable in class before joining the regular schedule. We’ll walk you through the options after your trial — no pressure to decide on the spot.

Q. What if I haven’t worked out in years?

That’s exactly who Rep Build is designed for. The pace is set by you and your coach, not by the rest of the class. Most members in Rep Build started exactly where you’re starting.

Q. What if I have an injury or a health condition?

Tell us about it on the form. We’ll talk through it during our first conversation, and Pete — whose background is in orthopaedics — can do a more thorough movement screen before you start if it’s warranted. We coordinate with treating clinicians when members are still receiving concurrent care.

Q. Do I need to book each of my three sessions in advance?

Yes — once we’ve confirmed Rep Build or Rep Seniors is the right fit, we’ll get you set up to book your three sessions through our scheduling system. Class sizes are small (typically 8-14), so booking ahead is how we keep that promise.
